I am 53 years old and have tried every exercise in the book. Dance Energy is by far the most fun I have ever had working out. No groaning in this class! Everyone is smiling while sweating! I rearrange my schedule to take Sarah Swain’s class. She is a terrific instructor, and is great with beginners like me! I have been taking the class for four months now, and have never had any formal dance training. I consider myself a dancer now! "After years of various aerobics and fitness classes, I was getting bored with the simple and repetitive routines-- even if I was getting a decent workout. While exercising at Osterville Fitness, I had noticed the DancEnergy logo and seen glimpses of a few classes, so one day I decided to give it a try. And I was immediately hooked! I have no formal dance training (I don't think a year of ballet at age 5 counts), so some of the dance routines are challenging, but for many of them, a class or two is sufficient to be able to follow along, and the instructor, Sarah Swain, has a knack for breaking down the steps, often throwing in tips on dance technique and positioning (and pushing more advanced class members to improve in these areas). The music is varied and fun, spanning the 80s to the present, and the dance steps are individually choreographed for each song, which makes them easier to remember. After only a few beginner/choreography breakdown classes, I was ready for the regular class, which offers a great workout even for those like me, who don't yet know all of the routines. New songs and dances are added regularly to the class lineup, and routines might incorporate jazz, modern, ballet, or latin dance steps-- or all of the above! I've found that I really like the challenge of keeping my mind engaged, trying to think a few steps ahead of the music. And I've already found (after only a few months) that as the steps become familiar, you can increase the difficulty by adding turns, jumps, and just pushing every move a little bit farther-- making it that much easier to stay interested in exercising!"

"I started DancEnergy when it came to the Cape in February of 2008. I was immediately welcomed by the instructor, Sarah Swain. I was nervous to begin the class, but Sarah was very kind and seemed truly happy to be there. After the first couple of classes I attended, I became hooked. My Mom and my younger sister decided to join me and they loved it also, even though they didn't have any dance experience. They know that it is a great workout and we have a lot of fun. I love when we all go to class together!
Before I began DancEnergy, I was working out on the treadmill, elliptical, and spin bike. I truly hated it and had to work really hard to get a good workout. It was also very boring and didn't keep my mind off of things like DancEnergy does. The one hour that I am in class, I forget everything else that is going on in my life. 2009 was a year full of ups and downs and DancEnergy truly helped me get through it by taking my mind off of things and de-stressing." -Shayna
